Cellist Truls Mêªrk has withdrawn from an 11-stop chamber music tour of North America with violinist Gil Shaham and pianist Yefim Bronfman which was to culminate with a concert at Carnegie Hall in New York. According to a statement from Carnegie's management, Mêªrk has decided to remain in his native Norway with his father, who is terminally ill.
All performances will proceed as planned, however, with cellist Lynn Harrell filling in for Mêªrk. The repertoire will remain as announced: Mozart's Piano Trio in C, K. 548, Shostakovich's Piano Trio No. 2 and Schubert's Piano Trio in E-flat major, D. 929.

The schedule for the tour is as follows:

Tuesday, October 24 - Akron, Ohio
Wednesday, October 25 - Chicago, Illinois
Friday, October 27 - Granville, Ohio
Sunday, October 29 - Vancouver, British Columbia
Monday, October 30 - Seattle, Washington
Wednesday, November 1 - Berkeley, California
Thursday, November 2 - Santa Clara, California
Friday, November 3 - Scottsdale, Arizona
Sunday, November 5 - New York, New York


A spokesperson for Mêªrk's management confirmed that he does expect to make his scheduled appearances in Philadelphia on November 24, 25 and 28 to perform Shostakovich's Cello Concerto No. 1 with the Philadelphia Orchestra under Christoph Eschenbach.
