Broadway News Chad Jennings Makes Broadway Debut in Wicked Feb. 7 The long-running hit musical also welcomes the return of PJ Benjamin.

The Broadway production of the Stephen Schwartz-Winnie Holzman musical Wicked welcomes the return of PJ Benjamin in the role of The Wizard beginning February 7 at the Gershwin Theatre. The performance also marks the Broadway debut of Chad Jennings, from the national tour of Wicked, in the role of Doctor Dillamond.

Current cast members Peter Scolari (The Wizard) and Michael Genet (Doctor Dillamond) offered their final performances February 5.

Benjamin and Jennings join a company that includes Jennifer DiNoia as Elphaba, Kara Lindsay as Glinda, Sheryl Lee Ralph as Madame Morrible, Michael Campayno as Fiyero, Dawn E. Cantwell as Nessarose, and Zachary Noah Piser as Boq.

PJ Benjamin's 46-year career includes almost seven years as the Wizard on Broadway and on tour, and Mr. Cellophane in the Broadway hit Chicago. Other Broadway credits include Torch Song Trilogy, Sophisticated Ladies, Charlie and Algernon, Pippin, Saravá, The Pajama Game, and Damn Yankees.

Chad Jennings has been seen in the national tours of Wicked (Dr. Dillamond), War Horse (Carter), and South Pacific.

Adapted from the novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked delves into the back story of the iconic characters from Oz. The hit musical has a score by Stephen Schwartz, a book by Winnie Holzman, direction by Joe Mantello, and musical staging by Wayne Cilento.

The production also features scenic design by Eugene Lee, costume design by Susan Hilferty, lighting design by Kenneth Posner, sound design by Tony Meola, projections by Elaine J. McCarthy, wig and hair design by Tom Watson, music supervision and arrangements by Stephen Oremus, orchestrations by William David Brohn, and dance arrangements by James Lynn Abbott.

Wicked won Tony Awards for Costume Design, Scenic Design, and Best Actress in a Musical (Idina Menzel). It was nominated as Best Musical.
