Revisiting his Southern roots, Chaffin will weave reminiscences of his Louisiana and Mississippi upbringing with the songs of Harold Arlen, Johnny Mercer, George Gershwin and more — all with a Southern twist. Sam Davis, who conducted "When the Wind Blows South" for CD, will serve as pianist and music director, with three additional musicians on hand.

Chaffin, who also serves as A&R director of the record label PS Classics, told Playbill.com, "I haven't done a solo act since 1998, shortly after Tommy [Krasker, co-founder of PS Classics] and I moved to New York. But this new album obviously got me thinking a lot about my Southern roots again. Most of the stories I'd tell in my act were about growing up in Baton Rouge, and especially about visiting my grandparents' farm in Mississippi, and those tied in so nicely with the songs on my new CD, it seemed like a good time to venture into solo territory again."

Born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Chaffin was hired — soon after college — as a vocalist with Ray Conniff and his Orchestra; he spent the next three years touring internationally. Upon his return to the U.S., he moved to New York, where he has appeared in concerts (including Encores! at City Center and Lyrics and Lyricists at the 92nd Street Y) and in theatrical evenings, including the Broadway premiere of Alan Menken and Tim Rice's King David.

His debut album, "Where Do I Go From You?," featuring songs and arrangements of the big-band era, came out in November 2000. His second album, "Warm Spring Night" (2005) addressed 70 years of romantic Broadway song.
