Richard Chamberlain will star in The Shadow of Greatness, a new play to be presented at the Berkshire Theatre Festival, July 25-Aug. 12. The Stockbridge, MA, fest runs through Sept. 2.

In Shadow, Chamberlain plays a "renowned and tormented playwright" who is trying to divest himself of his fame. Somehow, this involves his inviting three of his biggest fans to his New York brownstone on a "dark, cloudy night." Shadow is written by the not-so-renowned playwright, Gary Socol. Martin Rabbett will direct.

Co-starring as the rabid fans are Jan Maxwell (The Sound of Music), Kelly Overbey (Betty's Summer Vacation) and Ross Gibby. Chamberlain's stage roles include My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music and the out-of-town tryout for Breakfast at Tiffany's.
