"Musicals In Mufti," York Theatre's Off-Broadway musicals-in-concert revival series, returns in 1998-99 with more staged concert versions in mufti (i.e. street clothes).

Here's the line-up:
In September, the first Mufti show will definitely be Kelly, by Eddie Lawrence & Moose Charlap. Kelly is one of Broadway's most famous...um... disappointments. "We don't use the `f' word -- flop," said York artistic director James Morgan (Feb. 18). "It has a lot of potential that was muddled by the time it got to Broadway." Donna Kaz will direct Kelly in its first production since its Broadway premiere.

The probable second Mufti show is Betty Comden, Adolph Green and Morton Gould's 1945 hit, Billion Dollar Baby.

The third musical has not yet been decided upon.

In other York Theatre news, The Show Goes On, a revue by and starring Harvey Schmidt & Tom Jones, finishes its extended run March 1. For information on shows at the York Theatre Company, call (212) 935 5820.
