News Charlie Duncan Will Be Part of Staged Readings of Next Thing You Know Musical The Beautiful Soup Theater Collective will present staged readings of Next Thing You Know, a new musical by Joshua Salzman and Ryan Cunningham (the team behind I Love You Because...), Nov. 11 at the Joria Theatre.

Steven Carl McCasland (Yentl, A Doll's Life) will direct the 2 PM and 7 PM readings, which will feature musical direction by Drew Wutke. The cast will be headed by Charlie Duncan with Mario Castro, Erin Elizabeth Eichhorn and Kathryn Francisco. Next Thing You Know, according to press notes, is the "story of four New Yorkers as they laugh, love and drink their way through the big questions that face all young dreamers who wake up in the city that never sleeps. Does marrying a really nice guy mean you're settling down or just settling? Does taking a nine-to-five equal giving up or growing up? Does a decade in the city break you down or break you in?"

All profits from the two performances will benefit The Friends Shelter, which provides shelter and hospitality for 12 homeless men and women. The shelter is open seven days a week, every day of the year. Two volunteers stay overnight with the guests in a safe, warm and clean environment. To learn more, visit http://www.friendsshelter.org.
