Emmy nominee Charlotte Booker (Born Yesterday) brings her new solo show Elsa Lanchester: She's Alive! to New York City's Laurie Beechman Theatre beginning October 6. Performances will continue on Fridays weekly through November 3.

Best known for her performance in the title role of the 1935 camp horror classic Bride of Frankenstein, Elsa Lanchester was also seen on screen in Mary Poppins and That Darn Cat!, earning two Academy Award nominations over her career. Her off-screen life was perhaps as interesting, having famously been married to gay actor Charles Laughton.

Booker's solo show recreates Lanchester's bawdy nightclub act that she toured with late in her career, including original songs and backstage memories. Booker has written and performs her own version of the act, which features Mark Nutter at the piano. Pre-New York workshop engagements were held last month in Chicago and Rochester.

Tickets are available at SpinCycleNYC.com.
