News Chase, Astin, Abeles and Calderon Star in Vineyard's Burnt Part Boys, May 26-June 6 Vineyard Theatre has announced the cast and creative team for its Lab Production of the new musical The Burnt Part Boys, which will be presented at the Off-Broadway venue May 26-June 6.

Directed by Erica Schmidt, the cast boasts David Abeles, Skylar Astin (Spring Awakening), Al Calderon (13), Will Chase (The Story of My Life), Kevin Csolak, Andrew Durand (Spring Awakening), John Schippa (Blood Brothers), Timothy Warmen (The Who's Tommy) and Bubba Weiler. The Burnt Part Boys was penned by Mariana Elder (book), Nathan Tysen (lyrics) and Chris Miller (music). The musical, according to press notes, "is set in West Virginia in 1962 [and] follows a group of teenagers whose fathers were killed ten years earlier in a tragic coal mining accident. When they learn that the mine will be reopened, they set out secretly in the hopes of seeing the site, and keeping it closed."

The creative team for the Lab Production includes Vadim Feichtner (music director), Derek McLane (scenic consultant), Kaye Voyce (costume consultant), David Weiner (lighting consultant) and Brett Jarvis (sound consultant).

The Burnt Part Boys will make its Off-Broadway premiere in the spring of 2010, when it will be presented as a co-production by Playwrights Horizons and The Vineyard Theatre. (The musical made its world premiere at the Barrington Stage Company in 2006 as part of its Musical Theatre Lab series.)

The Vineyard Theatre is located in Manhattan at 108 East 15th Street. Show times are Tuesdays at 7 PM, Wednesdays-Saturdays at 8 PM and Saturdays and Sundays at 3 PM.
