News "Cheers" Star George Wendt Cast in Merry-Go-Round Playhouse's Hank Williams: Lost Highway Stage and screen star George Wendt, best known for his Emmy-nominated work as Norm Peterson on TV's "Cheers," will play Pap in Hank Williams: Lost Highway, which opens Sept. 18 at The Merry-Go-Round Playhouse as part of the Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival in Auburn, NY.

Directed by Hans Friedrichs, the cast will be headed by Peter Oyloe as Hank Williams, reprising the role he played in spring 2012 with the Filament Theatre Ensemble in Chicago. Hank Williams: Lost Highway, press notes state, "captures the highs and lows of one of country music’s most significant artists." More than 30 of Williams’ hit songs, including “Hey, Good Lookin’,” “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry,” “Your Cheatin’ Heart” and more, are featured.
