Directed by Jenn Womack with musical direction by Anne Damassa, performances are scheduled to continue through June 26.

The cast comprises Katie Barton, Shannon Connolly, Marc Cornes, Marc de la Concha, Eric Emch, John Farchione, Robert Kalman, Ryan Knowles, Jason Pintar, Matthew Preston, Justin Randolph, Brad Rupp, Angela Shultz, JessAnn Smith, Jennifer Thompson, Greg Wool and Adam Yankowy.

"Painting a colorful tableau of the misfits, misanthropes and cast-offs who altered the course of history," Assassins, according to press notes, is Stephen Sondheim's "chronicle of some of the darker moments in our nation’s past. From John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald and from Giuseppe Zangara to John Hinckley, Assassins tells the tales of those who changed the world with their tragic successes — and frightened the nation by how close they came in failure."

After opening Off-Broadway at Playwrights Horizons in 1990, the musical was revived on Broadway in 2004 by Roundabout Theatre Company with a cast that featured Tony Award winner Michael Cerveris, Neil Patrick Harris and Mario Cantone.

The current production also features stage management by Taryn Kimel, choreography by Eric Emch, visual design by Spencer Sujjaporamest, lighting design by Lois Catanzaro and sound design by Jon Rivera Cortes.

The Hudson Guild Theatre is located at 441 West 26th Street. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at www.5thfloorproductions.org or at www.brownpapertickets.com.
