After suffering after-effects of the worst nuclear power plant disaster in world history, heaven knows the children of Chernobyl are entitled to a little sunshine. So is the cast of Broadway's Annie revival, which has endured controversy after controversy in its run at the Martin Beck Theatre. The sun will shine on both this afternoon, June 11, as the children's Krinichka Choir of Chernobyl visits the matinee performance. In full costume, the 40 children will take the stage after the show (approx. 4:15 PM) and help Brittny Kissinger and the Annie cast sing "Tomorrow."
According to the Cromarty & Company press office, the Chernobyl kids, many of whom had to undergo treatment following the 1986 nightmare, are on a national tour sponsored by CitiHope International. They will be greeted at Annie by Libby Pataki, first lady of New York State.
