Leigh Silverman (Well) directs the company's third production of the season, which is slated to begin previews Jan. 22, 2008 at 59E59 Theaters. Opening night is scheduled for Feb. 3, and the play will run through March 1. From the writer of Smashing comes this new play that "follows four interconnected New Yorkers through their thwarted attempts to find a place – without compromise," as show notes reveal. "Jesse (Shamos) has his first date since his divorce, his ex-lover Ruth (Naughton) is living a fantasy, his brother Astor (Chernus) is the 'man with the van,' and Bess (Gummer) has a plan to come out on top."
"We are thrilled to begin the new year with the world premiere of this exciting new play by Brooke Berman that incorporates original music by some of New York's up-and-coming rock bands," said Primary Stages artistic director Andrew Leynse.
The four-member cast features Chernus (Essential Self Defense), Gummer (The Water's Edge), Naughton (The Rivals) and Shamos (Gutenberg! The Musical!). Chernus and Gummer also previously teamed on Mr. Marmalade.
The design team includes David Korins (sets), Miranda Hoffman (costumes), Ben Stanton (lights) and Robert Kaplowitz (sound). Melonie Rademaker serves as music consultant.
The Off-Broadway troupe presents the new work in association with Daryl Roth and True Love Productions.
