CHICAGO -- The Chicago critics have picked the best productions of last year and topping many lists are: Steppenwolf Theatre's revival of A Streetcar Named Desire, starring Laila Robins and Gary Sinise; the touring production of -- what else? -- Chicago that played the Shubert Theatre; the 50th anniversary production of All My Sons at Shattered Globe Theatre; The Midnight Circus, a clever combination of theater and circus that proved a hit at the Ivanhoe Theatre. Also JoAnne Akalaitis' supple staging of The Iphigenia Cycle at Court Theatre (her first staging of a Greek tragedy); and Dealer's Choice, Roadworks Productions' kinetic local premiere of British playwright Patrick Marber's taut tale of slackers engulfed in a poker game from hell.
