News Chicago Opens in Berlin, Sept. 25 The John Kander and Fred Ebb musical Chicago will open in the Theater des Westens in the German capitol Berlin on Sept. 25. Chicago is planned to play until April 11, 2000. The musical is a transfer from Austrians Vereinigten Bühnen Wien, where it played from Sept. 23, 1998, until April 28, 1999.

The John Kander and Fred Ebb musical Chicago will open in the Theater des Westens in the German capitol Berlin on Sept. 25. Chicago is planned to play until April 11, 2000. The musical is a transfer from Austrians Vereinigten Bühnen Wien, where it played from Sept. 23, 1998, until April 28, 1999. Anna Montanaro as Velma Kelly and Frederike Haas as Roxie Hart lead the cast. Both have also played these parts in Vienna and in the London production at the Adelphi Theatre. The production is directed by Scott Faris, following the 1996 New York direction of Walter Bobbie.

In 1988, a previous version of Chicago played in Berlin’s Theater des Westens, when the leading ladies were Katja Ebstein and Gaye MacFarlane.

Chicago is currently playing in New York, Las Vegas (U.S.A.), London (U.K.), Sydney (Australia), Stockholm (Sweden) and Utrecht (The Netherlands).
