Tonight, Nov. 8, will be the first night in a week that Ann Reinking and Bebe Neuwirth, stars of the Broadway revival of Chicago, will be back in the show. Neuwirth, best known for her Lola in Broadway's Damn Yankees revival and as Lillith on TV's Cheers, sprained her ankle and had been out of the show since Monday, Nov. 4.

Reinking also took some days off because she hasn't been feeling well, Clint Bond (of the Pete Sanders Group press office) told Playbill On-Line. Bond denied a New York Post report that Reinking is devastated over news that the current, Broadway-bound tour of Applause, which she choreographed, may close on the road.

"The real reason," Bond told Playbill On-Line, "is that major critics will start to come next week [beginning Nov. 11], so we want the cast at their peak. The producers figured it was best to give them both enough rest this week." This past week, understudies Nancy Hess and Mamie Duncan-Gibbs filled in for Reinking and Neuwirth, respectively.
