It will succeed the current tenant Gypsy, which also transferred from Chichester.
The 1950 "musical fable of Broadway" combines plot elements from several Damon Runyon short stories to tell the twin tales of two gamblers, Nathan Detroit and Sky Masterson, and the wager that leads to romantic entanglements with Miss Adelaide and Sarah Brown. It has proven to be just as popular in London as in New York, with previous major revivals in 1982, 1996 and 2005.
Choreography for this production is by former Royal Ballet star Carlos Acosta and Andrew Wright. Director Greenberg's credits include the Off-Broadway revival of Jacques Brel is Alive and Well, and running the musical theatre program for the New Group. Thompson's theatre credits include an Olivier Award winning performance in Into the Woods at the Donmar Warehouse, where she has also appeared in The Physicists and Company. Elsewhere her credits include She Stoops to Conquer at the National Theatre and Clybourne Park at the Royal Court and West End.
Parker is currently playing Mike Connor in High Society at The Old Vic. He was part of the original line-up of The History Boys (National Theatre and Broadway, and also the film version), and appeared in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead (Chichester and West End) and Henry V, Henry IV Part I, Henry IV Part 2 and As You Like Like It (all for Shakespeare's Globe).
The production is designed by Peter McKintosh, with lighting by Tim Mitchell and sound by Paul Groothuis. Musical supervision, musical direction and dance arrangements are by Gareth Valentine. with Larry Blank as orchestrator. The casting director is Pippa Ailion.
