Beautiful alum Chilina Kennedy, currently appearing Off-Broadway in This Ain't No Disco, is set to lead the cast of A Sign of the Times, which will play this fall in Delaware as part of Delaware Theater Company’s 40th anniversary season. Set against the backdrop of women's liberation, the Civil Rights Movement, and the Vietnam War, the show will feature Kennedy as a woman pursuing her passion and finding her voice in New York City.

A Sign of the Times, which received its world premiere at Goodspeed Musicals in 2016, features the songs of Petula Clark and multiple hit songs from the 1960s, including “Downtown,” “You Don't Own Me,” “Don't Sleep in the Subway,” “The Shoop Shoop Song (It’s In His Kiss),” and “The Boy From New York City.”

The company will also feature Drew Seeley (Jersey Boys), Crystal Lucas-Perry (Bull In A China Shop), who returns to the show from the Goodspeed production, and Ryan Silverman (The Phantom of the Opera). Performances will begin November 28 ahead of a December 8 opening.

The musical has a book by six-time Emmy Award winner Bruce Vilanch (Edna Turnblad in Hairspray on Broadway and bookwriter of Platinum), based on an original story by Richard Robin. The production is directed by Gabriel Barre (Amazing Grace) with choreography by JoAnn M. Hunter (School of Rock).

Complete casting will be announced at a later date; performances are currently scheduled through December 23.

The creative team will include Paul Tate DePoo lII (scenic design), Jennifer Caprio (costume design), Ken Billington (lighting design), Benjamin Pearcy (projection design), Shannon Slaton (sound design), J. Jared Janas (hair design), Rick Fox (music direction), Joseph Church (music supervision and orchestrations), Alchemy Production Group (general management) and Tara Rubin Casting (casting).
