The proliferation of special theatre and cabaret performances to benefit victims and families affected by the Sept. 11 Twin Towers attack continues unabated a month after the tragedy. The latest star-studded benefit comes courtesy of midtown Manhattan's Town Hall, where Chita Rivera, Carolee Carmello, Andrea McArdle, Liz Callaway, Ann Hampton Callaway, Tovah Feldshuh and a number of other theatre notables will offer a "Helping Hands Benefit Concert," Nov. 19 at 8 PM.
Attendance requires a minimum donation of $25, with proceeds from the concert going to buy Broadway theatre tickets for "families of the victims and heroes of Sept. 11," according to Town Hall spokesperson Kerrie Smith.
Joining Rivera (The Visit) and Kiss Me, Kate's Carmello are Judy Kuhn (Eli's Comin'), Emily Skinner (Side Show), Emily Loesser (Titanic), composer Stephen Schwartz (The Magic Show), Bryan Batt (Seussical), Priscilla Lopez and Brian d'Arcy James. Jim Caruso is likely to host. Scott Siegel, who producers Town Hall's Broadway "Year-By-Year" concerts, is helming the Nov. 19 benefit.
