News Christiane Noll to Star in California Into the Woods Former Jekyll & Hyde star Christiane Noll will be part of TheatreWorks' upcoming production of Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods.

Noll's official website says the actress will play the Baker's Wife in the award-winning musical at the Lucie Stern Theatre in Palo Alto, CA. Into the Woods will play the California venue Nov. 30, 2005-Jan. 7, 2006. With book and direction by James Lapine and a score by Stephen Sondheim, Into the Woods originally opened at Broadway's Martin Beck Theatre on Nov. 5, 1987, playing 765 performances before closing Sept. 3, 1989. The original Broadway company boasted Bernadette Peters, Chip Zien, Robert Westenberg, Joanna Gleason, Tom Aldredge, Barbara Bryne, Kim Crosby, Chuck Wagner and Ben Wright. The musical won Tonys for Best Book, Best Score and Best Actress in a Musical (Gleason). Song titles include "Stay with Me," "No One Is Alone," "Children Will Listen," "Last Midnight" and the title tune.

Christiane Noll, who was part of the recent out-of-town tryout of The Mambo Kings, made her Broadway debut as Emma Carew in Frank Wildhorn's Jekyll & Hyde. She later joined the Broadway company of It Ain't Nothin' But the Blues and starred in the City Center Encores! production of Out of This World. Noll appeared in the national tours of Grease!, Miss Saigon and City of Angels, and she has recorded three solo albums: "Christiane Noll — A Broadway Love Story" (Varese Sarabande Records), "Live at the Westbank Café," (Car-Jam Records) and "The Ira Gershwin Album" (Fynsworth Alley).
