News Christopher Plummer to Appear in Shakespeare with Music June 3 Tony Award winner Christopher Plummer, who recently ended his Lincoln Center run as King Lear, will star in a special evening devoted to the works of William Shakespeare June 3.

Presented by The Shakespeare Society, the June 3 evening, Shakespeare with Music, was created by Plummer and Michael Lankester. Plummer will perform excerpts from four Shakespeare classics — Hamlet, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Henry V and The Tempest — while the music of Tchaikovsky, Mendelssohn, Walton and Lankester plays. Lankester will conduct the seven musicians who will be featured on stage. The evening at the Kaye Playhouse will also include an awards presentation to Plummer. The consummate actor will be awarded the Shakespeare Society Medal in "recognition of his distinguished contribution to the world of William Shakespeare."

The Shakespeare Society is a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to the enjoyment, understanding, and appreciation of the works of William Shakespeare.

Christopher Plummer was back on Broadway this season with an acclaimed performance in King Lear. His other Main Stem credits include J.B., Cyrano, Othello, No Man's Land and Barrymore. He won Tony Awards for his performances in both Cyrano and Barrymore.
