News Chuck Cooper, Telly Leung, Charl Brown, Felicia Finley and More Will Sing The Life 54 Below Sings: The Life, featuring songs from the 1977 musical, will be presented May 17 at 54 Below nightclub in New York. 

The cast will be led by Tony winner Chuck Cooper, reprising his role as Memphis, and Bellamy Young, best known as Mellie Grant on ABC’s “Scandal,” reprising her role as Mary.

Cooper and Young will be joined by Telly Leung (Jojo) and Tony nominee Charl Brown (Fleetwood) as well as original cast members Felicia Finley and Katy Grenfell.

The evening is helmed by music director/arranger Jesse Vargas.

The Life opened on Broadway in April 1997, directed by Michael Blakemore. Cy Coleman penned the score with lyrics by Ira Gasman, and Coleman and Gasman collaborated on the book with David Newman. It played 466 performances and garnered Tony Awards for Lillias White and Chuck Cooper.

Songs in the score include "The Oldest Profession," "My Body," "People Magazine," "My Friend" and more. There is a $35-$65 cover charge and $25 food and beverage minimum.
