News Cirque Eloize Comes to Irvine, Apr. 8 IRVINE, CA -- Cirque Eloize was born in the Magdalen Islands (located off the coast of Quebec) in the fall of 1993. Drawing its name from the local expression for heat-lightning, the seven founding members decided to create a daring new version of the European or "animal-free" style of circus.

IRVINE, CA -- Cirque Eloize was born in the Magdalen Islands (located off the coast of Quebec) in the fall of 1993. Drawing its name from the local expression for heat-lightning, the seven founding members decided to create a daring new version of the European or "animal-free" style of circus. Christine Rosignol and Michel Dallaire direct Eloise's latest production, called Excentricus, which features 12 circus artists and four onstage musicians. Artistic Director Jeannot Painchaud headlines the show with his signature cycling act with feature performances by Alain Boudreau, Daniel Cyr and Marc Gauthier.
