News City Center Is Fairyland: NY Gilbert & Sullivan Players Begin 2004 Season With Iolanthe, Jan. 9 The New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players' 30th anniversary season in launches Jan. 9 with Iolanthe at New York's City Center.

Iolanthe, set in an Arcadia full of "dainty little fairies," continues to Jan. 11, followed by H.M.S. Pinafore (Jan. 16-18) and The Mikado (Jan. 23-25).

Under the artistic direction of Albert Bergeret, the troupe has presented more than 2,000 performances of the operettas of Arthur Sullivan and W.S. Gilbert, in North America. Bergeret conducts the productions, which use a 25-piece orchestra.

The fully staged productions play City Center on West 55th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues.

Company members for the upcoming performances include Stephen O'Brien, Melissa Parks, Kimilee Bryant, Michael Harris, Richard Holmes, Ross Crutchlow, Keith Jurosko, Laurelyn Watson, Stephen Quint.

Designers are Gail J. Wofford (costumes), Sally Small (lights) and Jack Garver and Bergeret (scenic). Tickets range $40-$65. For more information, call (212) 581-1212 or visit www.nygasp.org.
