News Clarke and Lion Honored at New York Theatre Workshop Gala June 9 Chances are Hairspray producer Margo Lion will be celebrating June 9, the day after the Tony Awards are announced. Compounding her good humor that date will be a New York Theatre Workshop event honoring her and artist Martha Clarke.

The event will take place at the Central Park Boat House June 9 beginning at 6 PM. The two honorees will arrive at the Boat House via gondola at 7:15 PM, accompanied by the Ladies Baltimore Band. Entertainment will be provided by Hairspray performer Jackie Hoffman; Marian Seldes and Denis O'Hare, who will perform the Richard Peaslee-Susan Birkenhead composition "Lament of a Martha Clarke Dancer"; Hairspray composer Marc Shaiman, performing his own song, "Ode to Margo"; and John Waters, who will talk about growing up in Baltimore. And auction will follow. Finally, Hoffman performs the Stephen Sondheim classic "I'm Still Here."

One of the first readings of Hairspray was held at NYTW.
