Mary McCarthy's The Group, which examined the soap opera-ish lives of eight women from the Vassar class of 1933, was published in the '60s and in spite of mixed reviews it became an instant best-seller -- a "must read" coming-of-age story for many a baby boomer. On Mar. 23 at 7:30 PM eight actresses will bring to life The Group's fictional characters as part of the Manhattan Theatre Club's "Writers in Performance" series of readings.
Among those participating in the reading are Patricia Clarkson, Elizabeth Marvel, Kathryn Meisle, Kellie Overbey, Angie Phillips and Francie Swift.
