Classic Arts News Cleveland Orchestra Postpones Premiere of Knussen Work The Cleveland Orchestra has postponed the world premiere of Oliver Knussen's Cleveland Pictures, which was scheduled for today.
According to a spokesperson at the orchestra, Knussen has not yet finished the piece, which was inspired by works of visual art at the Cleveland Museum of Art. It has been replaced on the program with Arthur Honegger's Symphony No. 3 ("Liturgique"). No new date has been set for its performance.

This is not the first time that Cleveland Pictures has been postponed. The work was originally supposed to premiere In January 2004; after being pushed back a week, it was rescheduled for this month.

The remainder of tonight's program is unchanged: Mozart's Flute Concerto in G major and Ravel's Valses nobles et sentimentales and La Valse. Music director Franz Welser-M‹st conducts; principal flutist Joshua Smith plays the solo part in the Mozart concerto.
