Based on the 2005 film of the same title about a struggling shoemaker who reinvents his business by creating fabulous and sturdy footwear for drag performers, Kinky Boots has a book by Tony winner Harvey Fierstein (Torch Song Trilogy, La Cage aux Folles, Newsies), and is directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell (Hairspray, Legally Blonde, La Cage aux Folles).

The principal cast features Stark Sands (American Idiot, Twelfth Night, Journey's End) as Charlie Price, with Billy Porter (Grease, Angels in America, Smokey Joe’s Café) as Lola, as well as Annaleigh Ashford (Rent, Legally Blonde), Celina Carvajal (Spiegelworld's Empire), Daniel Sherman (Desire Under the Elms) and Marcus Neville (The Full Monty). Here's how it's billed: "In Kinky Boots, Charlie Price (Sands) is forced to step in and save his family's shoe factory in Northern England following the sudden death of his father. Help comes from the unlikeliest angel, a fabulous drag performer named Lola (Porter). Together, this improbable duo revitalizes the failing business, while stepping out from their fathers' shadows and transforming an entire community through the power of acceptance."

Here's a look at the Chicago world-premiere of Kinky Boots, which will run through Nov. 4 prior to its Broadway debut.
