Legendary singer and “standard bearer” Rosemary Clooney will perform with the 12-member Big Kahuna and the Copa Cat Pack (conducted by Matt Catingub) beginning March 27 and running through April 7 at Feinstein’s at the Regency in New York City.
Now a halfway through its second season, Feinstein’s has presented Sally Kellerman, the club’s namesake Michael Feinstein, Nell Carter and Jimmy Webb so far this year. Clooney and Big Kahuna will be followed by the Pizzarelli Family (April 10-May 5), Keely Smith (May 8-26), The Smothers Brothers (May 29-June 9; during the Toyota Comedy Festival) and “Family Law” star Tony Danza doing standards (June 12-30). Danza marks his 50th birthday during his run.
Clooney and Big Kahuna evoke the swing sound of the bygone touring bands in their show, “Sentimental Journey.” The two-week run features Clooney nightly, and then Big Kahuna-only special weekend late shows with no cover/minimum.
Together, Clooney and Big Kahuna have completed a new (yet untitled) record for Concord Jazz which is being readied for release.
A $60 cover and $50 minimum applies at Feinstein’s Mon.-Thurs. On Fri.-Sat. Nights a $75 cover and $50 minimum applies. Big Kahuna and Copa Cat Pack play late shows without Clooney Mar. 30-30 and April 6 -7 and there are no cover or minimum charges for these shows. Feinstein’s at the Regency is located at 540 Park Avenue at 61 St. For reservations and information call (212) 339-4095 or visit ticketmaster.com. —By Murdoch McBride
