CHICAGO--Combining sketch comedy and short films by local artists, SMASH is the latest offering from Broad Shoulders Productions, the troupe who created TheatreSports (Chicago), The Convention, and Peanute Galleria. SMASH opens May 29 at The Second City Skybox in a staging by director Bart Heird. The five- member ensemble troupe depicts a group of kids trapped in a nuclear bomb shelter for 40 years. They emerge to unleash their pent-up comic instincts. Adding to the chaos is a backdrop of Chicago short films that may or may not have anything to do with the comic sketches.
