News Complete Casting Announced for Free Reading of New Musical Battleship Potemkin The York Theatre Company's Developmental Reading Series will continue July 22 with a concert version of the new musical Battleship Potemkin, which is based on Sergei Eisenstein’s classic silent film.

The 3 PM reading will feature the talents of Darrel Blackburn, Elisabeth Cernadas, Michael Galante, Matt Leisy, Julianna Stanford Nagy, Rebecca O’Sullivan, Chris-Ian Sanchez, Angela Christine Smith, Seph Stanek, David Wannen, Eric Werner and Jason Whitfield.

Battleship Potemkin has music by Eric Allaman and book and lyrics by Jeffrey Couchman. The musical, according to press notes, "tells the story of a young sailor named Alyosha, his shipmates and his family, all of them entangled in the tragic events of Russia’s 1905 revolution. It is a tale of everyday people battling oppression. In their passionate struggle, Alyosha and his friends and loved ones embody the resilience of the human spirit."

Micah Young is the music director.

The production has been developed in association with Algonquin Arts Theatre, William Whitefield, executive director.

The York Theatre Company Theatre at Saint Peter’s is located at 54th Street, east of Lexington Avenue. Admission is free; visit yorktheatre.org.
