Classic Arts News Composer Dennis Eberhard Dies at 61 Composer Dennis Eberhard died on May 25, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. He was 61.
A native of Cleveland, Eberhard was a prominent figure in the city's music scene and wrote music for the Cleveland Orchestra and the Cleveland Chamber Orchestra as well as the Cincinnati Symphony and other ensembles.

According to the Plain Dealer, Eberhard was recently commissioned to write a work for the Cleveland Chamber Orchestra through an innovative program that allows donors to purchase measures of the piece. Mark George, the president of the ensemble, told the paper than the project would be turned into a tribute to Eberhard.

Eberhard taught at the University of Illinois, Western Illinois University, the University of Nebraska, Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Cleveland State University, and Kent State University, among other institutions.
