The six-part series will be filmed in NJPAC’s Victoria Theater Sept. 20-21.
Concerts will be offered by Marilyn Maye; Tommy Tune; John Pizzarelli; Nellie McKay; Laura Osnes and Santino Fontana; and Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. Each will perform a program of classics from the American songbook followed by a Q&A session conducted by Ted Chapin, president and executive director of Rodgers & Hammerstein: An Imagen Company. The television series will be crafted from the two days of live performances.
The first American Songbook at NJPAC performance, scheduled for Sept. 20 at 7 PM, will feature Maye, Tune and Shaiman and Wittman. The Sept. 21 performance at 3 PM will include Pizzarelli, McKay, and Osnes and Fontana.
