The musicals Carousel and Over Here! will add spice to the Connecticut Repertory Theatre's 1998 Nutmeg Summer Series, to run June 5 through July 25 at the company's home at the University of Connecticut's Storrs campus.
CRT Artistic Director Gary M. English will direct Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic Carousel (Jun. 5-20), which will open the season. Schellie Archbold will provide the choreography. Michele Ragusa, who played Stewardess Robinson in Broadway's Titanic, plays Julie Jordan to Daniel Cooney's Billy Bigelow.
The season continued with the Andrews Sisters musical Over Here! (Jun. 26-July 11). The Richard and Robert Sherman show, about two sisters entertaining WWII troops who unknowingly recruit a German spy as their third voice, will be directed and choreographed by B. Peter Westerhoff.
The summer concludes with the premiere of Ellen Lewis's drama Eastville, the story of a lapsed Quaker and a former slave who lend shelter to Underground Railroad founder Harriet Tubman. Susan V. Booth directs. For information on the three-play series, call (860) 486-4226.
