PlayBlog Connick, Jr. and Lady Gaga to Perform on "Idol" Results Show May 5 Broadway favorite Harry Connick, Jr. will mentor the final five “American Idol” contestants as they prepare numbers from the legendary songbook of Frank Sinatra May 4. Crystal Bowersox, Lee DeWyze, Casey James, Aaron Kelly and Michael Lynche remain after Siobhan Magnus was given her walking papers on the April 28 results show.


Connick Jr. will also arrange the songs, write the orchestrations for the contestants, and perform on the May 5 results show. He is the first “Idol” mentor to perform all of those duties.

Connick, Jr. was nominated for a Tony Award for his Broadway debut in The Pajama Game, and he will return to the stage this July for 11 nights in Harry Connick Jr. in Concert on Broadway at the Neil Simon Theatre.

Joining Connick, Jr. on the May 5 results show is pop superstar Lady Gaga, who will perform her latest smash hit, “Alejandro.” Audiences will also find out who receives enough votes to stay in the competition and who is sent home.

"American Idol" airs Tuesday nights at 8 PM on FOX; the "Idol" results show airs Wednesdays at 9 PM.
