Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber -- who has been experiencing a spate of financial problems -- has sold his London mansion for $20.4 million, it was reported in the London Sunday Telegraph (Feb. 1). Although his personal wealth is still reported to be more than $500 million, Lloyd Webber has had his share of financial heartaches in the past few years: Sunset Boulevard lost money on Broadway and the West End and was forced to close prematurely in both cities, and Whistle Down the Wind, which was directed by Hal Prince and slated to arrive on Broadway during the 1996-97 season, received negative reviews in its pre-Broadway tryout in Washington, D.C., and "died" in that town. (The show, revamped and with a new director, Gale Edwards, is now slated to arrive on the West End July 1, with tickets going on sale Feb. 2.)
