The original King's Head cast are being reunited for the transfer: Michael Brandon, best known for playing Dempsey in the hit 1980s TV series "Dempsey and Makepeace," will star Steve Furst and Pepe Balderrama.
The play revolves around an epic movie, whose filming is delayed by torrential rain whilst filming on location in Spain. Two actors are trapped in a leaking trailer. A Brit, Stuart (Furst) and an American, Brad (Brandon) battle it out in what's billed as an explosive battle of wills.
The play is directed by actor-turned-director Kate Fahy, making her directorial debut, with designs by Tanya McCallin, lighting by Emma Chapman and sound by Tim Middleton.
Brandon was last seen on the London stage when he played Jerry Springer in the world premiere production of Jerry Springer – the Opera at the National Theatre and subsequently at the West End's Cambridge Theatre, for which he was nominated for an Olivier Award. His TV credits also include "Bones," "Bewitched," "Ally McBeal" and "The Knack". He also narrated "Thomas The Tank Engine & Friends."
Furst is a comedy actor, well known for his alter ego Lenny Beige. He has also appeared in TV's "Little Britain" and "The Legend of Dick and Dom." He also appears in the film "St. Trinian's 2." Balderrama has been seen onstage in The Miser at Manchester's Royal Exchange, No Such Cold Thing at London's Tricycle Theatre and Accidental Death of an Anarchist at Colchester's Mercury Theatre.
Playwright Cotton has appeared extensively at the National, RSC and in the West End as an actor. Credits include The Grapes of Wrath at Chichester Theatre and Trevor Nunn's productions of The Royal Hunt of the Sun and Summerfolk (both at the National Theatre) and Richard II (Old Vic). He also appeared in Matthew Warchus's National Theatre production of Yasmina Reza's Life x3 (at the National and then the Old Vic).
Director Fahy has appeared most recently as an actor onstage in Edward Albee's The Goat (Almeida/West End), and on film in "Defiance" and "The Living and the Dead."
