News Country Musical Lucky Star to Make World Premiere in AZ The new country musical Lucky Star will make its world premiere at Arizona's Phoenix Theatre May 14.

The down-home tuner follows a group of locals who try to save their favorite watering hole, The Lucky Star. Phoenix Theatre producing artistic director Michael Barnard – whose original story inspired the musical – directs the production.

Featuring a score by Bret Simmons, lyrics by Carolyn Gardner and a book by Jason Milligan (Walking on the Moon, Cross Country), Lucky Star will play a limited engagement through June 8.

Cast members for the world premiere include Gordon Goodman, Natalie Ellis, Tracy Lore, Michael Sample, Rob Allocca, Walter Belcer, Dion Johnson and Scott Withers. Allan Ruch serves as musical director.

Lucky Star, which was previously presented as part of the Phoenix Theatre New Works Festival, includes the songs "Cowboy Up," "For the Rest of Forever" and "Old Friends."

The Phoenix Theatre concluded its previous season with the world premiere of Dream a Little Dream – The Nearly True Story of The Mamas and The Papas. Tickets, ranging $38-48, are available by phoning (602) 254-2151 or by visiting www.phoenixtheatre.com.
