News   Coveting Thy Neighbor's Lakefront Property Is Subject of New Musical, The Beach Wars
A Lake Michigan-set "screwball musical comedy," The Beach Wars, gets a reading March 20 as the fourth of six "Monday Night Musicals" concert readings this season at Theatre Building Chicago.

The show was written by members of TBC's Musical Theatre Writers Workshop: Nan Hoffman and Laurel Haines (book and lyrics) and Howard Pfeifer (music).

"When a divorcing couple attempts to sell their Lake Michigan beach property, they didn't plan on being sabotaged by their own neighbor," according to TBC notes. "The crackpot neighbor schemes to push the sale price down so he can buy it himself."

Josh Penzell directs Beach Wars and Sam Michaels musical directs. Featured among the cast are Heather Connelly, Joe Ford, Dawn Hommowun, Michael Ingersoll, Amy Olsen, Brian P. Sage, Erez Shek, Stephanie Sherline, Brian Simmons and Heather Winter.

Tickets for the 7 PM performance are $10, which includes a reception with the cast and artistic team.
