News Cowboy Choreographer Melinda Roy Teams With Tommy Tune for High-Seas Musical Tony Award-nominated Melinda Roy told Playbill On-Line her next choreography gig following her boot-scootin' dances in Urban Cowboy will be teaming with Tommy Tune on the high seas.

Roy will choreograph Tommy Tune's Paparazzi, a new theatrical musical show being created by dancer- director Tune for the Holland America cruise line. Two weeks of rehearsal in Los Angeles will be followed by two weeks of rehearsal in Venice prior to a cruise around Europe and Russia.

"It's gonna be really fun," Roy told Playbill On-Line. "It's a great way for me to go from Broadway to something else, to do some more work that isn't as high pressure."

Roy wouldn't say if Tony Award-winner Tune will appear in the floating show. He's also directing the new Jerry Herman musical, Miss Spectacular for Las Vegas.

"He's fabulous," Roy told Playbill On-Line May 14. "We've been meeting for three weeks and we're having a great time. He's so creative."

Roy said she'd love to choreograph on Broadway again, but doesn't see herself in director's shoes anytime soon. "I'm a dancer, I come from dance," she said. Urban Cowboy closed on Broadway May 18, but there are plans for a national tour. The musical marked the Broadway debut of Roy's choreography. In addition to a 2003 Tony nom for Best Choreography, the show earned a Best Score nomination.
