Craig Revel Horwood, best known as a judge on BBC1's Strictly Come Dancing, will star as Miss Hannigan in the upcoming U.K. and Ireland tour of the Tony-winning musical Annie, which opens February 25, 2023, at Leicester Curve.

The actor, whose West End credits include Cats, Miss Saigon, and Crazy for You, will play the evil Miss Hannigan in Leicester, Birmingham, Oxford, Dartford, Stoke, Llandudno, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Nottingham, Woking, Cardiff, Bradford, Southend, Bromley, and Norwich. Horwood, who also directed and choreographed the current U.K. and Ireland tour of Strictly Ballroom The Musical, will share the role with the previously announced Paul O'Grady, who will play Hannigan in Newcastle, Edinburgh, Southampton, Liverpool, Dublin, and Bristol. Additional casting will be announced.

The tour will be directed by Curve Artistic Director Nikolai Foster with set and costume design by Colin Richmond, choreography by Nick Winston, lighting by Ben Cracknell, and sound design by Richard Brooker.

Annie, which premiered on Broadway in 1977, features a score by Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin and a book by Thomas Meehan. Based on the Depression-era newspaper comic series, the musical centers on its plucky title character and her journey from orphanage to the opulent Warbucks mansion. Annie won seven 1977 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The family-friendly musical has been revived on Broadway twice, in 1997 and 2012.
