Variety reports that Groener, who recently portrayed Sunnydayle’s mayor on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” will join Ben Feldman and Samm Levine in the new pilot for Sony Pictures Studio. The comedy from Adam Sandler, Doug Robinson, Adam Resnick and Jack Giarraputo concerns a 19-year-old who is elected mayor of a small New England town. Filming of the “Kid Mayor” pilot is scheduled for April 11.
In addition to his Tony-nominated roles in Oklahoma!, Cats and Crazy for You, Harry Groener has also been seen on Broadway in Harrigan and Hart, Oh Brother!, Is There Life After High School?, Sleight of Hand and in the title role of Stephen Sondheim's Sunday in the Park with George.
