News Crime Hits More Than Just the Victim in Spirits, the Musical, Getting NYC Reading Aug. 18-19 Spirits, a musical drama about six people drawn together one night to try to break a cycle of violence and revenge, gets Manhattan readings in the York Theatre Company's developmental series 7:30 PM Aug. 18-19.

The work by composer Jeff Harrington and lyricist Reyn Guyer has been significantly revised since past public readings. The songwriters also penned he libretto. John Margulis directs, James Mironchik musical directs.

The cast includes Hope Albrecht, Rob Gallagher, Montego Glover, Diana Henry, Michael Oberlander, Celina Polanco, Michael Shelle, Doug Storm and Lillias White. The band includes Steve Count (bass), Gary Tillman (drums), Neal Johnson (guitars) and James Mironchik (keyboard).
