As reported by the Daily News (Oct. 28), screen star Kevin Costner is in the beginning stages of co-producing a Broadway-targeted musical with Anita Waxman, of Alexis Productions, and Elizabeth Williams, of Four Corners Productions. Costner approached Waxman with the idea. Titled My Cuba, the piece tells "a personal story, a love story, set in a wonderful spot in the late 1950s," Waxman told Playbill On-Line. She estimated the project would take two-to-three years to develop, with the next few weeks devoted to selecting a composer and lyricist to develop the piece.
Costner's film credits as an actor include "Revenge," "Field of Dreams," "For Love of the Game" and "Tin Cup." He also directed and starred in the Oscar winning "Dances With Wolves." Waxman's producing credits include Cabaret, 1776, Electra and The Young Man From Atlanta on Broadway, and A Night in November and Mrs. Klein Off Broadway.
