Mary B. Robinson directs the production, made up of Homelife and The Zoo Story, at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre.
Albee will appear at a post-show event March 29. Opening is March 25.
Here's how PTC bills the show: "A riveting new full-length play, At Home at the Zoo pairs Edward Albee's landmark 1959 play, The Zoo Story, with its recently penned prequel, Homelife. The complete story, At Home at the Zoo (formerly Peter and Jerry), first examines the deliciously revealing and nuanced relationship between uptown publisher Peter and his wife, and then catapults him into a life-changing encounter on that infamous Central Park bench with Jerry, a desperate outcast."
"At Home at the Zoo is our third production of a play by Edward Albee and we are delighted to be continuing our association with this master playwright, who has made an indelible impact on both our art form and our culture," stated PTC's producing artistic director Sara Garonzik.
Albee is the author of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and A Delicate Balance, which also won the 1966 Pulitzer Prize, as well as the Pulitzer Prize winners Seascape and Three Tall Women. Cunningham (Peter) appeared on Broadway in Design for Living, Love! Valour! Compassion! and Tartuffe, as well as in the national touring productions of Mamma Mia!, Twelve Angry Men and Take Me Out.
McKey (Anne), making her PTC debut, is a long-time member of People's Light & Theatre Company where she has appeared in over 30 productions, including Splittin' the Raft, Midons, Book of Days, Playhouse Creatures, The Skin of Our Teeth and My Mother Said I Should Never, for which she earned a Barrymore nomination. An F. Otto Haas Award finalist, she has also received Barrymore nominations for Hedda Gabler and Henry V, winning the award for Good Night Desdemona, Good Morning Juliet.
Polk (Jerry) received a Barrymore Award for his performance in PTC's Love! Valour! Compassion!, and a 2007 Drama Desk nomination for outstanding featured actor in The Accomplices. He was the artistic director of the Cape Cod Theatre Project for 13 seasons.
The creative team includes set designer James Noone, lighting designer Michael Lincoln and costume designer Millie Hiibel.
Philadelphia Theatre Company is Philadelphia's only non-profit professional theatre "dedicated exclusively to producing world and regional premieres of works by contemporary American playwrights."
