The Broadway revival of Lillian Hellman’s The Little Foxes, starring Laura Linney and Cynthia Nixon, begins previews March 29 at Manhattan Theatre Club’s Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.
Set in Alabama in 1900, The Little Foxes follows Southern belle Regina Giddens and her scheme to outwit her husband, who stands in the way of her profit-making dreams. “Far from a sentimental look at a bygone era,” state production notes, “the play has a surprisingly timely resonance with important issues facing our country today.” Directed by Daniel Goldstein, the production will feature Linney and Nixon alternating the roles of Regina Hubbard Giddens and Birdie Hubbard.
