Developed through the Roundabout Theatre Company's Monday Night Musicals series, the production will be directed by Connors, who penned the music and lyrics and co-wrote the book with Landry. The premiere engagement will continue through Feb. 1, 2009, at the Westport, CT venue.
The cast will feature Larry Daggett (Ragtime), Tommy Foster (John & Jen), Michael Lowney (Like You Like It), Carolyn Marcell (The King and I), Rob Sutton (Mamma Mia!) and Susan Terry (Evita).
Mothers and Sons, according to press notes, "is a cutting-edge new musical as well as a compelling reflection of today's social challenges of hate crimes, extremist groups, civil rights, and unsecured personal access through the internet. The show's setting of bucolic Fairlawn, Connecticut soon becomes 'everytown USA,' and the coming of age struggle of Sarah, her son Mark, and the tragic scenario that develops resonates with every family and becomes frighteningly possible if we, as a society, do not address the social challenges that face us all on a very local level."
Mothers and Sons will feature lighting design by Graham Kindred, costume design by Diane Vanderkroef and musical direction by David Wolfson.
