News Daisy Eagan Is Center of Miller's A View from the Bridge at South Coast Rep, May 20 Daisy Eagan returns to South Coast Repertory — following her turn in the world premiere of Christopher Shinn's On the Mountain earlier this year — for Arthur Miller's A View from the Bridge, starting May 20.

Martin Benson directs the season closer on California company's Segerstrom Stage which opens May 27 for a run though June 26.

Set in the Red Hook area of Brooklyn, New York in the 1950s, A View from the Bridge tells the story of a longshoreman's forbidden love for his niece and the lengths to which he works to keep her close.

The cast features Richard Doyle as Eddie and Daisy Eagan as Catherine with an ensemble that also includes Hal Landon Jr., Elizabeth Ruscio, Anthony Cistaro, David Barry Gray, Mark Brown, Jay Michael Fraley, Preston Maybank, Martha McFarland, Darin Singleton, Sal Viscuso, Alejandro Lara, Samer T. Marei and M.S. Cliff E. Threadgold.

The creative team for A View from the Bridge includes Ralph Funicello (sets), Angela Balogh Calin (costumes), Chris Parry (lights), Karl Fredrik Lundeberg (sound design), Ken Merckx (fight choreography), Linda Sullivan Baity (dramaturg) and Jamie A. Tucker (stage manager).

Tony Award-winner Eagan has been seen on Broadway in James Joyce's The Dead, Les Misérables and The Secret Garden. Miller is considered one of America’s greatest playwrights, having won acclaim (including the Pulitzer Prize for Drama) for his numerous works. Among them are The Man Who Had All the Luck, All My Sons, Death of a Salesman, The Crucible, A View from the Bridge, A Memory of Mondays, The Price, The Creation of the World and Other Business, The American Clock, The Ride Down Mt. Morgan, The Last Yankee, Broken Glass, Resurrection Blues and the recent Finishing the Picture.

SCR artistic director and co-founder Benson has directed all of his homestage's previous Arthur Miller productions including The Crucible, All My Sons and twice Death of a Salesman. Other credits include Ah, Wilderness!, A Streetcar Named Desire, A Delicate Balance, Major Barbara, Misalliance, Heartbreak House, The Retreat from Moscow, The Carpetbagger’s Children, Getting Frankie Married—and Afterwards, Shadowlands, The Drawer Boy and The Lonesome West.
