News Dakin Matthews To Star in Misalliance at South Coast Rep Drama Desk Award winner Dakin Matthews will play "underwear magnate and armchair philosopher" John Tarleton in the South Coast Repertory production of George Bernard Shaw's Misalliance, which will run Sept. 10-Oct. 10 in Costa Mesa, CA.

Martin Benson will direct a cast that will also include Melanie Lora as daughter Hypatia; Wyatt Fenner as her fiancée, Bentley; Peter Katona as Joey Percival, a pilot whose plane crashes into the Tarletons' house and disrupts their lives; Kirsten Potter as acrobat and plane passenger Lina Szczepanowska; JD Cullum as Gunner; Amelia White as Mrs. Tarleton; Daniel Bess as John Tarleton, Jr. and Richard Doyle as Lord Summerhays.

The creative team will comprise Ralph Funicello (set design), Maggie Morgan (costume design), Tom Ruzika (lighting design), Michael Roth (original music).

Matthews has appeared at South Coast Rep in Hamlet, Hitchcock Blonde, Major Barbara, The School for Wives and Shadowlands, winning an L.A. Drama Critics Circle Award for the latter. A regular at San Diego's The Old Globe and Los Angeles' The Center Group, and an alumnus of Sam Mendes' Bridge Project, he earned a Drama Desk Award for his adaptation of Henry IV for the 2004 Lincoln Center revival, in which he also appeared, and which won the Tony Award for Best Revival.
