The show must go on -- which means that Dame Judi Dench may not be attending the Mar. 23 Academy Awards ceremony in L.A. Although she has told London reporters that she would love to attend the ceremonies (to see what comes of her best actress nomination for Mrs. Brown), it looks like Dench will be otherwise engaged on Oscar night -- performing the role of Esme, the ultimate dedicated actress, in David Hare's hit West End play Amy's View.

As it turns out, Mar. 23 is also opening night in London for another play, John Aubrey's Brief Lives, which stars Dench's husband, Michael Williams.

But keep your fingers crossed -- there's still a slight chance that the actress could hop a Concorde to L.A. for the Oscars if Robert Fox, producer of Amy's View, gives her the night off, the actress told the Times of London late last week.
