Classic Arts News Dance Theater Workshop Artistic Director Cathy Edwards to Step Down Cathy Edwards, the artistic director of New York's Dance Theater Workshop since 2003, will step down on June 30, DTW announced.
Edwards is moving to New Haven, Connecticut, where she will work at the city's International Festival of Arts and Ideas and her husband will join the faculty of Yale Law School. She will also serve as a consultant for DTW.

"It is with a mixture of sadness and joy that I make this announcement," executive director Marion Dienstag said. "Sadness that on a daily basis, DTW and I are losing Cathy's brilliance and nurturing counsel to countless artists around the world. But joy in knowing that Cathy will enhance the performing arts world from her New Haven base, retaining the same artistic integrity for which she is so respected."

Founded in 1965, DTW develops, commissions, and presents works by emerging choreographers. Edwards first joined the organization in 1996.
